FAQS
What Would You Like to Know?
I JUST WANT TO DO A SMALL CHANGE, IS IT WORTH GETTING AN ARCHITECT INVOLVED?
An architect will consider your project in terms of design, construction and value for money. At Loup we work with your aspirations, whether modest or grand, towards realising a project that functions for your needs and designed in a way that works seamlessly with your property.
EMPLOYING AN ARCHITECT SEEMS DAUNTING.
Engaging an architect may seem daunting but by taking a step by step approach, starting with discussions about your aspirations and the opportunities presented by the property, a strategy for how to move forward will quickly emerge. At Loup we offer a friendly approach; no pressure and we aim to realise a stress-free project.
IS IT EXPENSIVE TO EMPLOY AN ARCHITECT?
Architects charge professional fees and their professional conduct is regulated by the Architects Registration Board. Fees are dependent upon the scale and complexity of any project. At Loup we are happy to offer a free initial consultation and discuss your specific needs.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I EMPLOY AN ARCHITECT?
The process starts with a meeting to discuss the property or site. This would lead to a firming up of the brief through concept sketches and options. When a concept is agreed most clients will instruct a planning application. Once planning permission is granted the project will need to be developed to a greater level of detail for discussions with builders. This typically will involve the services of a structural engineer and possibly other consultants too. Drawings are developed for a building control application and for tender purposes from which a building contractor can be appointed.
The scope of each step of the process would be defined along with the requisite fee for each stage. The process is tailored to individual projects and at Loup we endeavour to be transparent and open about what is involved at each stage.
